Brain stimulation using tDCS
What is brain stimulation?
Brain stimulation refers to methods that temporarily change how active your brain is.
There are many types of brain stimulation, but the one will be using in this project is called transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS).
What is transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS)?
tDCS uses a very low electrical current to change how active your brain is. The current is so low that it doesn’t activate neurons in your brain, i.e., it doesn’t make them fire, but it can make them more or less likely to.
A video explaining what will happen if you take part in the brain stimulation in Study 1 is available here:
How does it work?
For a summary of how tDCS works, you can read the information in pages 5-7 here: https://the-epic-study.quarto.pub/the-epic-project/mri_tdcs_summary_short.html
Or a slightly longer description in pages 9-12 here: https://the-epic-study.quarto.pub/the-epic-project/mri_tdcs_summary_long.html
